Spectrum and related aspects

Competence in this field was well established and entirely national until the late 1980s. Since that date, the growing significance of radio techniques to the EU internal market led gradually to recognition of a need for more effective coordination between EU governments.

A limited amount of new acquis was adopted specifically setting up collaborative arrangements at EU level which are conceived so as to work effectively with the wider European mechanisms of the CEPT’s European Radio Office: http://www.ero.dk/

The main new instrument is Decision 676/2002/EC on a regulatory framework for radio spectrum policy.
